On Thursday, the United States Naval Academy located in Annapolis, Maryland, was put on lockdown following unconfirmed threats, as stated by Navy spokesperson Lt. Naweed Lemar. Reports indicated that a former midshipman had returned to the campus armed and allegedly discharged a firearm.
According to sources from the Naval Academy, gunfire was reported within Bancroft Hall, the large dormitory that accommodates over 1,600 midshipmen. The suspected shooter reportedly knocked on doors while impersonating a military police officer.
Local law enforcement quickly arrived at the scene, although the Annapolis Police Department refrained from sharing specific details, as reported by a major news outlet. Ambulances were observed assembling at a designated area near the campus's rear entrance, with several departing approximately 20 minutes later.
